The official English Palworld OCG account has announced that additional stock of Dawn of Palpagos is shipping out to stores now.
This follows a launch where the set sold out within days, even with preorders open for months beforehand. Scalpers moved in fast, helped along by a speculative market and by the printing error on the 1st Edition box, which reads “Palword” instead of “Palworld.”
Along with the extra 1st Edition stock, Bushiroad says a 2nd Edition of the set is on the way.
The biggest concern among the community is the obvious one. Will scalpers buy up the restock too, and how much of the 2nd Edition run ends up in the same spot? Bushiroad could always make the 2nd Edition print run much larger to combat that.
The collector space cringes at the idea of reprints, since more product tends to lower the rarity of certain cards, but it’s worth remembering that card games are meant to be played first and foremost.
Talk of reprints ruining the game seems alarmist at best, which is almost always the case with this stuff. The Palworld Official Card Game is a fun game, and it will be supported as long as Bushiroad keeps building a competitive scene around it while doing just enough on the chase card side to keep collectors interested.
As for an actual timetable on the restock and the 2nd Edition print run, that information was not provided at the time of this writing. The assumption is that both land before BP02 “Legends Awaken” arrives on October 30th, and there is reason to think that holds up.
Bushiroad also has Sleeve & Card Set Vol. 1 coming October 2, so the fall calendar is already spoken for. Nobody wants a brand-new set hitting shelves while the first one is still impossible to find, since players who skipped Dawn of Palpagos have no reason to jump in on set two either.
